Chrome Extension Permissions

This extension requires the following permissions to provide seamless service:

Website Access Permission

Website access permission is required to enable fashion item search functionality across all webpages you visit. This permission allows you to use the image search feature on any website, including shopping sites, social media, blogs, and more.

Screen Capture Functionality

Screen capture functionality is required to analyze images from the area you select. This feature only activates when you click the extension icon and manually select a region.

Important Notice:

All features only activate when you explicitly launch the extension
We do NOT automatically collect data or analyze webpages
We do NOT track your browsing history
Only images you select are transmitted to our servers

Information We Collect

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

Providing the Service: Processing images with our AI models to detect fashion items

Data Retention Policy

Images You Upload

Retention Period: Immediately deleted

Images you analyze are processed in server memory only and immediately deleted after analysis. We do NOT save them to disk, database, or any storage system. Processing typically takes 2-3 seconds, then the image is permanently deleted.

Images You Voluntarily Submit to Improve Detection

Retention Period: Up to 90 days, then automatically deleted

Separately from the immediate-deletion flow above, the uninstall feedback page lets you optionally attach an image our extension failed to recognize, to help us improve detection. This happens only when you actively attach an image and check the consent box. Detected faces are automatically blurred in your browser before the image is uploaded (best-effort — it may not catch every face, for example at extreme angles), so the original image never leaves your device. These images are used only to improve our fashion-detection models, are not linked to your identity or any account, are not sold, and are not used for advertising. They are automatically deleted after 90 days. Because they are not linked to you, we cannot retrieve a specific image to delete on request, so please do not submit images containing anything you would not want retained for this period.

Search History (Local)

Retention Period: Until you uninstall the extension

Your last 100 searches are stored locally in YOUR browser only (not on our servers). This data is automatically deleted when you:

Uninstall the extension
Clear your browser data
Perform your 101st search (oldest is deleted automatically)

Product Catalog

Retention Period: Permanent

We maintain a database of fashion products (names, prices, images, shopping links). This contains NO personal information about you - it is just a catalog of available products.

Server Logs

Retention Period: 7 days

Our server keeps basic logs for debugging (timestamps, error messages). These logs:

Do NOT contain personally identifiable information
Do NOT contain image data
Are automatically deleted after 7 days

Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
Immediate Deletion: Images you analyze are processed in real-time and immediately deleted after detection (this does not apply to images you voluntarily submit on the uninstall page, which are kept with your consent for up to 90 days)
Access Control: Only authorized personnel can access aggregated, anonymized analytics
Regular Audits: We conduct security audits to identify and fix vulnerabilities

Third-Party Services

To provide our fashion search service, we use the following third-party infrastructure and services:

Cloud Database Services

Purpose: Store fashion product catalog and enable visual similarity search
Hosting: Google Cloud Platform
Data Stored: Product information only (names, prices, images, shopping links)
Personal Data: None for the product catalog. The only user-provided images we store are the anonymous, browser-blurred feedback images you voluntarily submit (described under Data Retention); they carry no personal identifier.

AI Image Processing Service

Purpose: Detect fashion items in images using AI
Hosting: Google Cloud Platform (self-hosted service)
Data Processing: Images processed in memory only, immediately deleted
Storage: None - the AI detection service never saves images to disk or database (voluntarily-submitted feedback images are stored separately by a different service; see Data Retention)

Currency Exchange Rate Data

Purpose: Convert product prices to your preferred currency
Data Source: External currency exchange rate API
How We Use It: We cache exchange rate data in our database
User Data Transmission: None - no information about you is sent to the exchange rate provider

Chrome Web Store

Purpose: Extension distribution and automatic updates
Provider: Google
Privacy Policy: Google's privacy policy applies to Chrome Web Store interactions

Affiliate Marketing Networks

When you click on product links in our extension, we may earn a commission through the following affiliate networks. These networks use cookies to track clicks and attribute purchases.

Local Data Storage

Some data is stored directly in YOUR browser (not on our servers). This data never leaves your computer unless you explicitly use the extension to search.

What We Store Locally

Detection History: Last 100 searches (timestamps, images, results)
Extension Settings: Server URL, UI preferences
UI State: Side panel position, minimized button location

Privacy Protection:

All data stays in YOUR browser
NEVER transmitted to our servers
Automatically deleted when you uninstall the extension
Maximum 100 items (oldest deleted automatically)

How to Clear Local Data

Easiest Method:

Right-click extension icon → "Remove from Chrome"
All local data automatically deleted

Alternative Method:

Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data
Select "Cookies and other site data"
Extension data will be cleared

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data. Here are your rights and how to exercise them:

1. Right to Access

You can request information about what data we have about you. We do not store personal data linked to your identity on our servers — your local data exists only in your browser. The only images we keep are the anonymous, browser-blurred feedback images you may voluntarily submit (see Data Retention); because they are not linked to you, we cannot look one up per person.

2. Right to Deletion

Local Data: Uninstall the extension to immediately delete all local data

Server Data: We hold no personal data linked to you on our servers to delete. Images you analyze are deleted automatically; anonymous feedback images you may voluntarily submit are not linked to you (so they cannot be retrieved per person) and auto-delete after 90 days — see Data Retention.

3. Right to Correction

We store NO personal information that could be inaccurate. If you find any issues, contact us at support@outfitlens.com

4. Right to Object

Simply don't use the extension. All processing is user-initiated, so not using the extension means no processing occurs. Uninstall to stop all processing permanently.

5. Right to Data Portability

You can request a copy of your data in a standard format. Contact us at support@outfitlens.com

6. Right to Withdraw Consent

Uninstall the extension at any time to immediately withdraw consent. All local data will be deleted, and no further processing will occur.
